A subway passenger reading in front of me, on the way home from work tonight.  This guy hopped off the train a few stops before me, so he didn’t get a shirt.

I used my iPhone to sketch this man while he slept on the Q train. For various reasons I assumed he was Russian.  As a side note, I saw a hot dog advertisement on an airport TV, where the hot dogs spoke with different accents.  They had  a New Yorker, a Chicagoan, and a Texan dog..  in the end, a Coney Islander dog with a Russian accent (I cannot believe I found this- Click here to see the commercial ) My point is, a west coast fast food franchise just recognized the significant Russian population riding the B,Q trains.

This man was riding the R train from Manhattan to Brooklyn.  I assumed he was a police officer by his many articles of NYPD merchandise.  I also assumed he lived in Bay Ridge, since my Oregonian mind believes that all cops live in either Bay Ridge or Staten Island – and one can’t get to Staten Island by way of R Train. For all I know, he’s a terrorist from Midwood using the NYPD merch as a cover.

It’s true, coming up with a new post each day is a challenge.

I saw a friend this morning who is pregnant.  She looked radiant and well taken care of.. A few hours later I boarded the Q train and sat across from this girl. She was sharing a pair of earphones with the guy sitting next to her.  I’m pretty sure she was around 15.

Creating something quickly without a fuss feels healthy..  like eating raw kale.. or going to the dentist.  I’ve been developing a taste for the quick draw on the train lately.

I did say that I would post one drawing each day..   I’m scanner-less today so I used my phone to draw this.  It’s pretty much Pierre Bonnard meets this kid.

My scanner is not working… this is a photo of a drawing taken with my phone (hence fuzziness), then whited out using iPhone brushes.  What fun this is, coming up with something new to post each night.

Kind of grossed out by this- but I committed to a drawing each day and this is it for today.  I feel like the lunch lady of iPhone drawings tonight.
