On the verge of sounding self-righteous, I know.  I just think that as a nation we’re pretty much screwed if teaching as a profession becomes as desirable to bright young minds as working for Starbucks.

I needed to make birds!  The Western Meadowlark (above) is the official bird of my homestate, Oregon.  It’s also the official bird of Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota and Wyoming. Only the Northern Cardinal is more of an official state bird whore.  I only remember seeing Robins and the Blue Jays growing up.  I’ll always distinguish between these two as – one was perfectly acceptable to kill with a Beebee gun, and the other was the virgin Mary of birds – to hurt a Robin would be sacrilege even for the least discerning squirrel thumping redneck.  The meadowlark is beautiful.  I don’t do it justice here.. But it’s almost midnight and I’m committed to posting a drawing a day – before midnight, good or bad!  I sort of made it super bird with the ‘V’ on its chest.  Thanks for visiting, and for reading.

I know.. this is disgusting, wrong..  Puppy mills totally suck.  If I ever have a dog, I will go for the rescue.. However, NYC puppy stores hold some kind of magic power over single women over the age of 35..  They sell unconditional love.  It’s freakish, wrong..  however in my fantasy, I buy a long haired dachshund.

1st comic strip homework for Tom Hart & Matt Madden’s Independent Projects Seminar: Comics @ SVA.  The assignment was to use a previous post (in this case, January 4) and create a sequence with the post as the last panel.  Not feeling especially ‘lmao’ here.  Thanks to Steven Kraan in Rotterdam for his helpful feedback this morning.
