Sunday, October 24th, 2010Hours before she met my father at a dance in 1966, my mom had bought a tube of white opaque lipstick. I guess this was the second biggest event for her that day and worth remembering 44+ years later. I imagine she and Debbie were listening to Leslie Gore as they drove around Medford looking for the perfect white. (My dad was probably doing some kind of physical labor [now extinct] while singing along to this)

Friday, October 22nd, 2010I did say that I would post one drawing each day.. I’m scanner-less today so I used my phone to draw this. It’s pretty much Pierre Bonnard meets this kid.
And in the beginning..

What would Judy Chicago say about me cutting the head off this girl? I would have to explain to her that a) I ran out of room.. it was the edge of the paper.. and b)I was hypnotized by the shimmering skinny jeans and crop top ensemble and that I could not aim properly when I started drawing the hips. I would also tell her that the current boot heel / death machine shoes are fun to draw.

365 Drawings
Sunday, October 10th, 2010I’ve been waiting for 10/10/10 for the past 10 years. I have a palindromic birthday related to the number ten: 01/10.. and, that beach scene of Bo Derek in the 1979 movie “Ten” made quite an impression on me. I had planned on 10/10/10 as my fantasy wedding date, which didn’t happen. Instead of getting married today, I’ve decided to post at least one new drawing each day for the next 365 days. To have and to hold, for better drawings.. & for worse. Thanks for reading this – feel free to comment!
